Free Drag Shows Make Up a Whole New Scene In SF During Pride Month

“And another drag queen takeover is happening this Saturday at Salesforce Park. Un Viaje: Pride at the Park is part of a recurring series of outdoor shows featuring drag organized by Latin-folk group Banda Sin Nombre (whose Vocalist Shane Zaldivar was the 2022 Foxy Mary contest winner), and stage performers include Persia, Donna Personna, Shane Zaldivar, La Katia, and MamaDora.”

SFMOMA exhibit celebrates the ‘magnificent beauty’ of 33 Bay Area trans activists

“I Am Very Lucky, Very Lucky to Be Trans,” is a new installation in San Francisco that appropriates the form of the religious polyptychs, mixing catholic imagery and queer nightclub aesthetics. It features portraits of thirty-three Bay Area trans, intersex, and gender-nonconforming activists and cultural leaders at the forefront of revolutionary advocacy. These activists are working for the human rights and sustainable futures of queer and trans people, nationally and internationally.”

Social distance drag show brings queens to LGBTQ seniors during coronavirus pandemic

“The show was a collaborative event benefiting the housing community as well as the Queer Nightlife Fund and Tenderloin Museum. Performers Mary Vice, Princess Panocha, Dulce De Leche, Per Sia and Shane Zaldivar danced and lip-synced in outdoor locations at Openhouse where residents were able to view them from their windows. The show, which also streamed live on Twitch, was hosted on Friday, May 22, which would have been San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk’s 90th birthday.”
